Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of Organisations use an Executive coach?

All kinds of organisations.  I coach managers and leaders from organisations in both the private and public sectors. From the very large, like the Revenue Commissioners, Mercer, and UCD to less well known smaller organisations.

What kind of issues do you deal with in leadership and executive coaching?

All types of issues: leading authentically; communication; assertiveness; effectiveness; imposter syndrome; working relationships; delegation; meaning and purpose; work life balance and more.

Who sets the agenda for the work we will do?

You do. The coach’s role is to support and challenge in ways that assist you. If you’re unsure I work with you to explore what is important for you and how you would like to develop.

What kind of people work with Executive Coaches?

All kinds of people. Leaders, senior managers, junior managers, business owners, private individuals and more.

Is the coach an Expert?

No. Coaching is not advising in specific subject matter areas.

Is Executive Coaching therapy?

No. But it is about you.

How long are sessions and programmes?

Sessions are usually 90 minutes long and there are usually five or six sessions over six months. Every client is unique, and each arrangement is unique to the needs of the client.

Where do sessions take place?

Either at my rooms at 11 Herbert Place or at a mutually agreed private location. Sometimes sessions take place outside in nature if that suits you. A walk and talk by the coast or in the hills.

Can sessions be virtual?

Yes, over Zoom or other platforms.

I’m not sure what I need or want - can I have a conversation to see if coaching is the correct intervention?

Of course. And I always have a chemistry call with potential coachees to make sure we feel we can work well together.

How much does it cost?

We discuss fees based on your needs and in advance of working together. Just call me to give an outline.

What else is involved?

We use tools such as ECR 360 for further feedback. Often we generate a psychometric profile such as an Insights Discovery Profile or a 15FQ+ Extended Report. The purpose of these profiles is to enrich our conversations and enhance the benefits of coaching for you.

What kind of workshops do you run?

Workshops vary, depending on the needs of the team. Insights Discovery workshops often centre on communications, behaviours, personality types and effectiveness. In addition, I design other workshops to meet specific needs of individual teams.

What else do you facilitate?

Groups or teams that wish to work on specific issues or strategies and have an experienced, independent, and skilled person to guide and focus their work.

What kind of people attend facilitated workshops

All kinds of people. Leaders, managers, teams of people working together.

How many people attend a facilitated workshop?

It depends on the size of the team or group. Often between six and 10.

How much does it cost?

We discuss fees based on the requirements and time commitment involved in the workshop. Just call me to give an outline.

Is the facilitator an Expert?

No. However, to facilitate the session(s) I invest time in advance of the session(s) to fully understand the needs of the team. The session(s) are designed and tailored to meet the teams’ needs.

How long are facilitated workshops?

Often a day or part thereof. Again, every client is unique, and each arrangement is unique to the needs of the client. Sessions may happen in isolation or as part of a longer series.

Where do workshop sessions take place?

At the Glasshouses GH2 in Dun Laoghaire or at a mutually agreed private location.

Can workshop sessions be virtual?

Yes, over Zoom or other platforms.

I’m not sure what our team needs - can I have a conversation to see if a facilitated workshop is the correct intervention?

Of course. I meet with you to discuss your needs and we design the sessions from there.

What else is involved?

In an Insights Discovery workshop we generate psychometric profiles for the facilitated session. They enrich the inter-actions and team understanding. Other arrangements may be made depending on your needs.

What kind of teams attend your workshops?

Often they are management teams made up of different functional heads, and other times they are members of a specific functional team.

What are typical objectives at your workshops?

Are we a team?  Building self and interpersonal awareness. How to increase our effectiveness.  How to communicate better as a team.  How to help colleagues understand each other's working styles and preferences. Alignment of purpose.  How to get the whole to be greater than the sum of the parts.
